Animals Have Feelings Too

While I was doing my rounds to find some stray dogs to feed nearby where I live, I stumble upon a mother and her kitten. The mother cat look lost. I saw a box nearby, afraid that someone dumped them in there and there's more kittens in there. But there aren't any. Just a trace of fried fish.

I got near them and the mother cat came first. Yes she looked really confused. She can't really see. Her left eye was shut completely. It seems like there was something on it. While the right eye, not sure she's having eye problem or she is like that since small. She sniffed the kibbles but didn't eat much. Still looked confused.

While the kitten, s/he was really skinny with bloated stomach. Maybe due to worms. S/he's having diarrhea. S/he walked really weird. Her/his eyes were not severe like his/her mum. S/he looks really hungry. Kept on meowing wanting to eat the kibbles but it was too hard and too big for him/her to swallow. When I walked towards my car, s/he followed me while meowing his/her lungs out. I'm truly sorry. I can't take you guys in. When I stopped, s/he stop as well and turned around walked toward his/her mother.

If I want to assume I can. I can assume that they were recently abandoned because both of them are sick. Please, it is still considered as cruelty when you abandoned your pets. If you can't commit till their last breath, when they are sick, when you have every problems carried by you, don't have a pet in the first place. It is a life time commitment. They only have you, you are their world.

Abandonment is cruelty.

Blood Dripping On The Road

Last weekend, I was about to cross a small road between two malls. There was a bump to prevent car from speeding. When I was about to cross, I stop and had a bad feeling about one Myvi that will pass in front of me. After the Myvi pass by, I crossed the road. Suddenly something small was moving on the road and catches my eyes. It was a kitten.

I pick her up while she's struggling after been hit. Her right eye pooped out from the socket. Not sure about the left eye. But her head was bleeding. When I picked her from the road, her blood kept on dripping. I placed her at the other side of the road and sat next to her to calm her down while panicking and calling my friends on what to do as I don't have any experience like this. The kitten head was knocked over.  She is a small 2 months old, fluffy ginger tabby.

After struggling for less than 30 seconds, she went to the rainbow bridge. I'm sorry sayang. I didn't have the chance to do anything. I called a friend to bring some paper for me to wrap her. When I transferred her on the paper from the ground, her blood dripped to the ground. The paper was torn because it was too wet due to her blood loss. I wrapped extra paper. A stranger come and helped me to remove the blood from the pavement by rubbing grass on it.

I called a friend as I remember he met a cat that was knocked down before and asked him on what to do. After few minutes of thinking and considering, I placed the wrapped kitten's body in a plastic bags that my friend got from a stall nearby and placed somewhere safe first outside the mall. Just hoping and praying that the plastic still there when the event finish and I can bring her home to be bury as I don't have any shovel at the moment to bury her nearby there.

The plastic was still there. A friend of mine have shovels in her car. So we dig a hole nearby the mall to bury the kitten's body. I'm sorry. That is the best thing me and my friends can do.

For days I blamed myself. When I already calmed down, I think rationally. The kitten's fur was very very soft, she had a healthy body, there was no strays at that area. I've made an assumption that she was someone's pet that went into somebody's car and when the car pass by the bump, she fell and another car or the same car, ran into her head.

Poor kitty. Please be a responsible owner/human being.

I Want To Start Feeding Dogs Again

I admit that it's been awhile I didn't feed ( daily ) dogs around where I live. The last dog that I fed was Zoe.

After that, I tried to feed every dog that I pass by around here. Not many dogs. But I recognise a few. There's a pack of dog live next to a river 5 minutes driving from my house. Everytime I pass by that area, I told myself that I want to feed them. I do! But I can't bare to feel the lost whenever they're gone somewhere, been hit or been adopted.

The bond between dogs are different compare to cats. No words can describe it. It's not that I don't feel the lost with cats. I do. But it was different.

The other day when I want to buy some bread, I saw a cat. I placed some kibbles next to my car for him/her to eat. But s/he didn't. When I drove out from the bay, two black dogs ate the kibbles. I know them. They're the two black female dogs that live around here. They're skinier than the last time I saw them.

My heart broke into pieces. Yes I want to feed the stray dogs daily again. Regardless of how I felt when they are no longer here. At least they know that not all human are bad. Who knows I can spay them if I manage to get their trust.

I'm sorry I focus too much on my community cats until I didn't feed you guys and the fact that I was afraid to feel the lost when the bond between me and the dogs are there.

I bought the canned food already. I will try to mix it with rice first. Sometimes stray dogs, they don't know how to eat kibbles. It's ok. At least the smell of canned food is stronger and it may attract the dogs to eat the food while recognising me.

Putrajaya Cat Show 2014

On 15th and 16th of February 2014, SCRACTH has been invited by Kelab Kucing Malaysia ( KKM ) to open a booth there. So we brought few cats for adoption besides merchandise to be sold. On the first day I've decided to bring Bijoux while on the second day I've decided to bring Edmund and Rarity to give each and every one of them a chance to go to the event, to be adopted and also to prevent them for being too stressful coming to the event for two straight days.

On the first day, there were Kit, Madhuri, Eli, Eowyn and Nienie besides Bijoux. Alhamdulillah Kit, Madhuri, Eli and Eowyn have been adopted by four different families. In the picture below, Kit wasn't adopted yet that time and Madhuri already been taken by the adopter.

Bijoux was so lovely. He was scared and stressful. I can't deny that I was very stressful seeing him being stressful. The night before the event, I was just trying to wear him the harness that I bought for Astro. Astro didn't like using harness. He seems comfortable wearing it. So at the event I borrowed someone's harness. I didn't bring mine but when I look at Bijoux, he seems stressful being inside the cage. He like wearing harness! So I just carry him around with the harness while explaining things to those who came to our booth. He don't like it. He wanted me to entertain him, just him alone. Too manja! Late in the afternoon, he was tired, stressful and sleepy I guess. So he decided to sleep on pile of bags at the booth.

My cute baby Bijoux sleeping.

He didn't eat, drink nor poo pee at the event. When we reach my house, he pee'd a lot! And he drank a lot too. Owh by the way, he has four potential adopters. Three of them were from the event and one of them from KTAJ Online Adoption House. I really have good feeling from one of them. Will update when I already decide on which one will be his furrever family.

On the second day, it was waaaaayyy stressful for me compare to the first day. I brought Edmund and Rarity for the adoption drive. Besides Edmund and Rarity, there were Jamie and Eowyn. Many asked about them. But when I told them the TnC to adopt the kitties, they seem reluctant. I did that for the sake of the cats. Not me. Both of them were terrified. They never go to any adoption drive plus they never meet may people in a time. The music they play at the hall was so loud. I will write my comment about that event and what happen there in the next post. If not, it'll be a very long post. Edmund and Rarity didn't have any luck in finding adopter there. At least I've tried. Maybe their adopters are somewhere out there who still looking for them but didn't look hard enough at many place. No luck for the rest of the cats that we brought as well.

My poor babies. Sorry sayang.
Thank you so much for staying strong
through out the day.

Thank you so much for those who came and support us. Especially those who adopt cats that we brought to the event. It meant the world to them. Please take care of them like your own family.

One Year In ( not so ) Summary of The Furbabies

Hello dear readers. I hope all of you are doing fine while reading my post. It's been a year since I post in this blog and my two other blogs. Plenty of things happened relating to the animals that I feed, I foster and I adopt. I'll just re-cap things that I can remember throughout this one year.

Grey has been adopted by a very loving family. I can't wish more seeing him happy living with his new family whether it's human or furriends. The adopter has three dogs that time. Someone told me that they doubt the adopter's credibility to adopt Grey due to some reason. But I followed my instinct. I can't ask for more from them. They're the perfect adopter for me. I did went to their house to visit them and also Grey. By the way, they change his name to Billy Zane. Very macho name. I don't mind cause I know I'm no good in giving names.

Billy Zane and I. His becoming fatter now which is good.
But he still have that strong pointed nose.

When I sent Billy Zane to the adopter, I decided to foster Nellie and her upcoming litter. Yup she got pregnant again. I manage to catch her, brought her to the vet. Do some check-up and asked the vet about tips on how to handle a mother cat who has problem in giving birth. The vet told me tips and tricks. A week after that, on Friday 12th April 2013, Nellie gave birth to five beautiful kittens. She gave birth when I went to my class. Maybe she want to give birth earlier but I keep on interrupting her because I was too nervous!! My first time expecting a cat to give birth at my house.

Cute little furballs.

When the kittens already weaning, I sent Nellie for spaying. Although it is a risk to spay a geriatric cat, I just have to do it. I took the risk. During the spaying operation, the vet cabut all of Nellie's tooth except her top and bottom canine tooth because the rest are already in bad condition due to tartar. When they're older enough, I sent them for neutering and spaying. All of them are still available for adoption. You can view their picture here. I do update about them on my wall, do check them out.

Their recent picture. The carrier size L.
So you can guess their size by now.

What about Zoe. Well, I found Zoe. I was crying like crazy when I found her. She was so excited to see me. She even lick my hand. I cannot stand looking at her because I was too happy, so I cried inside the car. I know I'm a cry baby when it comes to animals. One day, I found someone advertise about her on Petfinder. So I contacted that person. She did told me what happened to Zoe when she was missing. A group of people came and bring a big stick. Most probably they beat her. That's why she keep on hiding and afraid when a group of people came nearby her. Me and the other independent rescuer sent her for spaying. She is and obese dog despite of being a stray. Well, she is so lovely. That's why everyone feed her. She was about 30kg if I'm not mistaken.

Look how happy she is after spaying.

After the surgery, the independent rescuer's friend foster her and she found a loving family few months later. I'm so happy for her. I was about to visit her last few months, but something happen and I need to postpone that visit.

One of my few last photo with her. That time I just need to see her.
Few weeks later, she was brought to her forever home.

Next is the kitties around my house. Some of them come and go. Nellie's previous kittens, which I named them Johnny and Jenny went missing. The other two kittens that a mother cat gave birth to, I named them Johnny Jr and Grey Jr. They were born few days before Nellie gave birth. My first round of TNRM, I neuter Handsome and Grey Jr.

Johnny Jr, Grey Jr and their mother.

From left; Handsome, Johnny Jr and Grey Jr
few minutes before I catch them.

Like I said, there are cat who come and go. One female kitten came out of no where. I named her Clarissa. She is too manja. I was thinking before I send her for spaying, I want to make her a bit fat first because she's quite skinny. Another cat who came is Merlin. I thought Merlin was a female. So I book two slots for spaying a female cat. Clarissa went missing and Merlin is a boy actually. Like Clarissa, Merlin came out of no where. He was lonely at first. But when he already be friend with Johnny Jr and Grey Jr, he love to buli them. But he do love them.

Clarissa

I send Merlin for neutering and do advertise him for adopters. One of my friend volunteer to foster Merlin because he looks like he can't survive out there. Yes I know. So she did foster Merlin until Merlin found a forever home recently. While Merlin went to his forever home, Handsome went missing for months already. I don't have any idea where did he go. But I just pray that all of the cats that used to eat and live here will live happily else where.

Merlin.

The community cats eating their breakfast.

About a month after I released Handsome and Grey Jr, my brother told me there's a white kitten nearby the restaurant. I wonder who's kitten is that. I went to check. A new kitten. He was too small, weak and skinny. I named him Bruno. I gave him milk using syringe, he refused. I soak the kibbles a bit with water, he licked some. I really can't foster him. So I placed him with a small towel at a safe place. Another feeder told me that Bruno went out from the towel. I went down and took him in. I just need to. He seems weak. He ate quite a lot at my house. He ate wet food. The next day, I cleaned him up as much as I can and spray some Frontline. While I cleaned him, I feel something weird at his ribs. So we went to the vet. The vet said that Bruno is two months old based on his teeth. Due to malnutrition, he became that small. Bruno love it when I wrapped him with a shawl or a towel and placed him near my body. Maybe he just love the heat. That night, Bruno passed away when I went to my class. RIP baby. Please send my regard to Cookie.

Handsome was really nice. He protected Bruno when he came.

Bruno's last picture.

When I went to my college end of last year. Suddenly I saw a dog. He looks scared and skinny. I was about to submit my assignment but I think that can wait a bit ( do not copy this action. it's bad ). I don't have dogs kibbles. So I went to the store and bought two hot dogs. I gave him and he ate so fast. He was so hungry. Poor baby. He has soft coat. His eyes looks like his terrified. I told him to wait here, I submit my assignment and gave him more food. I searched for him everywhere. But that time it was already raining. I was about to leave because I couldn't find him. But then, I saw him taking shelter under a car in front of me. I know he's hungry. I placed an umbrella on him while he's eating, although I was kinda wet but as long as he's happy, I don't mind. I posted on Facebook for someone who can rescue/foster/adopt him. Someone saw that post. Her husband manage to get his trust and they brought him home. Now, the dog named Polka is happy living with two other dogs at his adopter's home.

Polka when I first saw him

Before and after.

The recent batch of community cats that I neutered are Bijoux and Johnny Jr. Bijoux came few months ago. Someone dumped him. Because of too much dumping, I changed the feeding station to somewhere where people cannot see. At first the cats don't know the new feeding station. After few days of teaching them the new station, they already familiarized with the new feeding station. No more dumping after that. Bijoux is a mix Bengal I think. He has that strong marking of a Bengal cat. But his face looks more like a domestic cat. So I assume that he is a mix Bengal. Bijoux is available for adoption while Johnny Jr is still feral. So I need to wait few months before he can be put for adoption. Lesson learned. From? Please continue reading this post.

Bijoux

Johnny Jr.

A week after Johnny Jr and Bijoux were released back to where they live before, I send Grey Jr to his adopter's house. I trust her to adopt him because she said that her family have a cat who used to be a feral. So she used to handle feral and she know she need to do. I was wrong. Grey Jr ran away from her house. I don't know what to say. I feel bad towards Grey Jr. I gave my trust to make him as a home pet, not as a community cat at other places. I'm sorry Grey Jr. My bad, my mistake. I failed you.

Grey Jr's last picture. I'm sorry syg.

What about Astro and Sophie? Astro and Sophie living their lives to the fullest here at home. Although their kibbles and litter are quite hard to find and I need to order them, I don't mind. As long as they're happy. Although I do admit that when I neuter my community cats, Astro became stressful due to the presence of new cats. That's why I make sure I have a gap between batch of cats that I neuter so that Astro will not get too stressful. Mid of last year, they did some test for FIV and FeLV. Alhamdulillah both of them are negative for those two viruses.

I just have to share this photo. Astro doing business at the pot that I put inside for a while.
When he got kantoi, he ran as fast as he can.

My everything.
